I understand that if I do not return by my stated return time, I will be given a 1 hour grace period after which the COAST GUARD will be notified.

Cell phones work well in many areas of Desolation Sound and motor vessels have VHF radios. If you are going to be late, CALL US or flag down a motor vessel to relay the message – before the Rescue Coordination Centre dispatches the Coast Guard!

Late returns will be charged accordingly (dangerous weather is the exception) and early returns will not be refunded, although credit may be granted for future rentals.
